Quick question for the Young & the Restless writers. Where is Harrison?
I’m serious. That kid has two moms, a dad, a Newman step-family & an Abbott family full of people with opinions. Somehow, he only shows up when the plot needs a cute face in a tiny suit.
The rest of the time, he’s either in Milan when things get tough or with Mrs. Martinez.
Everyone Used to Be Obsessed With Harrison
There was a time when you could turn “my son” into a drinking game. Every time Summer Newman (Allison Lanier) said it about Harrison Locke (Redding Munsell), you took a sip. You’d be under the table by the first commercial break.
Summer wasn’t alone, either. Grandma DeeDee, also known as Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters), doted on him. Claire Newman (Hayley Erin) was downright obsessed with that little boy. Everybody in Genoa City wanted a piece of Harrison.
Now Everyone Has Other Stuff Going On
Fast forward to today, & that kid might as well be a rumor.
Summer is in Milan. Diane is too busy scheming against Nikki to bring him up. Claire is busy wondering what her mom & her ex are hiding. Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) is the one hiding it, sneaking around with Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle).
I already called out Kyle for forgetting he has a son, & nothing has changed. Somebody is packing Harrison’s lunch, & my money is on Mrs. Martinez. She deserves a raise & her own storyline.
The Fans Already Wrote the Storyline
A fan on Twitter recently posted the story Y&R should be telling: Summer tries to get full custody of Harrison in Milan, & Tara Locke (Elizabeth Leiner) isn’t having it.
Yes. A thousand times yes.
Summer is a Newman with Victor’s stubborn streak. Tara is a Locke who has never met a scheme she didn’t like. Put a little boy in the middle of that, add Kyle trying to explain why he didn’t notice his son was gone, & you have a custody war Genoa City hasn’t seen in years.
Throw Phyllis in as Grandma Red with an opinion, & I’ll clear my calendar.

Bring Harrison Home & Bring the Moms With Him
Soap kids vanishing upstairs is a tradition as old as the genre. Usually they come back three years later, taller & ready for a love triangle.
Harrison doesn’t need to come back older. He needs to come back as a reason. A reason for Summer to come home from Milan. A reason for Tara to stir up trouble. A reason for Kyle to grow up & stop treating his new romp room like a hiding spot.
On Young & the Restless, they keep telling us, family is everything. Prove it. Find the kid.
Should Y&R bring back Summer & Tara for a custody war over Harrison? It’s not my first day watching Y&R & it isn’t yours either. What’s your take?
