Five years ago this week, Young & the Restless took us to Tuscany for the wedding of the year. This week, we’re headed to the Genoa City Athletic Club for a wedding that doesn’t realize it’s trying to top it. Same players, different seats.
Grab a glass of wine. Let’s take a little trip down memory lane.

Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) was marrying Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi) in Italy. Gorgeous setting, gorgeous people, & one giant fashion faux pas hanging over the whole thing.
Victoria’s original wedding gown came from Lauren Fenmore (Tracey E. Bregman), & Victoria wasn’t feeling it. Enter Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope). Her design was the one waiting in Victoria’s suite, & it was stunning… Not nearly as fabulous as the ever-fabulous Lauren Fenmore & her designs.
I already broke down who wore Sally better, Victoria Newman or Abby Winters (Melissa Claire Ordway). Either way, “That Dress Woman,” as The Almighty Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) calls her, has arrived.
Meanwhile, Billy Boy Was Crashing the Party
While Sally was making Victoria look like a million bucks, Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) was on a mission to blow the whole wedding up.
Billy dragged Jesse Gaines (Jamison Jones) all the way to Italy to expose Ashland. Nick caught Gaines lurking in the palazzo. Victor wanted to make Gaines disappear as a wedding gift to Ashland. A Newman wedding with a side of attempted sabotage & a possible hit job. That, my friends, is peak Y&R.
It was my favorite week on the show ever. I’m not even exaggerating. I posted my Y&R watching ass off that week.
Y&R Fans Fast Forward to the GCAC
Now look at us. Sally is the one walking down the aisle, & the groom is Billy. Yes, the same Billy who tried to wreck Victoria’s wedding is marrying the woman who dressed her for it.
Victoria is Billy’s ex-wife & the mother of two of his kids. She’ll be in the room watching her dress designer marry her ex-husband. If that isn’t full circle, I don’t know what is.
Then there’s the venue. Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) owns the GCAC now. Billy’s ex. Sally’s nemesis. The woman with the keys to the building. Pietro can plan all the swans & champagne towers he wants. Phyllis controls the thermostat.

Over on Young & the Restless, weddings are never just weddings. Five years ago, Billy tried to stop one. This week, let’s see if anybody tries to stop his.
