It continues to be confirmed that, with Josh Griffith still at the helm of Young & the Restless, some things that fans would like to see changed or updated won’t be. The 2025 final four of the most annoying women in Genoa City on Y&R hasn’t changed much from last year, but the one switch absolutely pains fans—Phyllis Summers has officially made the list.
For a beloved character like Phyllis to knock Chelsea Lawson off this year’s roster and earn a spot among the most annoying? Things had to be real bad in 2025 in Genoa City.
Let’s rant, Young & the Restless fans!!…
It Pains Me to Say It: Phyllis Earned Her Spot in 2025
This one hurts. Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) has officially made the Most Annoying Women list for 2025, and Young & the Restless fans on social media agree—she earned it. While Phyllis is technically STILL unemployed, she has been annoying like it’s her job in 2025.
Phyllis took over Chelsea Lawson’s (Melissa Claire Egan) position from the 2024 list, and honestly, it wasn’t even close. Chelsea could not have been more boring in 2025. Seriously, how many episodes did Chelsea and Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) waste discussing who took whose jalapeño lime chips? Young & the Restless fans lost count and lost interest.
But Phyllis making this list is disappointing because we know she’s capable of so much more. Phyllis Summers was truly at her best when she owned and operated the Grand Phoenix—smart, independent, entertaining. Ever since losing the hotel, she’s been on some sort of trial-and-error plan, and almost every single time it’s an error.
As of late, Phyllis has made a deal with The Almighty Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) that is already not working out. Almost every single Young & the Restless fan saw this coming and is still shaking their heads. When has making a deal with Victor ever worked out for anyone?

Most recently, Phyllis stole an A.I. program from Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) to help Victor take over Jabot—because that’s a smart move that won’t backfire at all. Now she’s supposedly helping Cane and his company take over Newman Enterprises, which Victor is obviously not going to let stand. Phyllis keeps making deals with devils and acting shocked when she gets burned.
Phyllis Summers has SO much potential personally and professionally. She’s smart, resourceful, and entertaining when written well. So why can’t she find her place again? Why does Josh Griffith keep having her make the same stupid mistakes over and over? Young & the Restless fans are beyond frustrated watching her sabotage herself repeatedly. Phyllis deserves better writing than this.
Still Unqualified & Still Running Chancellor: Nikki & Claire
Lather, rinse, repeat… Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) and her favorite granddaughter, Claire Newman (Hayley Erin), remain at the top of the list for the most annoying women in Genoa City on Young & the Restless for the second year running.
Nikki’s ongoing hatred for her stepson, Adam Newman, is beyond getting old. It’s exhausting. Especially since, as of lately, Adam is becoming more and more like his father/her husband, Victor Newman—the love of her life. The hypocrisy is astounding.
Speaking of Victor Newman, he is Nikki Newman’s main vehicle to remain one of the most annoying women in Genoa City. Nikki Newman tries to put on like Victor Newman would never hurt anyone when she knows damn well what a hateful SOB he has been and continues to be at his leisure without giving a damn about anyone else. Young & the Restless fans see right through it and are tired of the act.
Also, what is this about Nikki Newman being qualified to run Chancellor Industries? How? Sure, she has her sidekick assistant—her favorite granddaughter Claire—but what in the actual hell qualifies either of them for these positions? Nikki has zero business training. Claire has a college degree but zero business experience. Now Claire is running a division Victor made up for Claire’s father, the late Cole Howard (J. Eddie Peck): Newman Publishing, now under the Chancellor umbrella.

Most recently, Nikki claims she’s ready to leave Victor if he doesn’t destroy the A.I. program Miss Phyllis stole from Cane Ashby to get control of Jabot. Young & the Restless fans have heard this threat before. Nikki threatens to leave Victor approximately every six months, and it never happens. Will she actually leave this time? Doubtful.
While there is little to no hope for Nikki to become less annoying in 2026, there is a glimmer of hope for Claire. Claire and Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) just supposedly parted ways for real, and she and Holden Novak (Nathan Owens) ARE HOT together. There’s potential for Claire to drop a few spots on this list next year—especially if Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver) keeps slapping her in public in Genoa City on Y&R.
The High Horse Keeps Getting Higher: Lily Winters in 2025
Yes, Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) is STILL annoying in 2025—only she’s somehow managed to be even MORE annoying than in 2024. Now Lily isn’t just annoying, she’s bitchy, hypocritical, and exhausting. One day she trusts Victor Newman, the next she doesn’t, a few days later she does again, and on and freaking on. Make. It. Stop.

Seriously, what’s Lily’s point right now on Young & the Restless? She doesn’t work. She takes issue with almost everyone she encounters in Genoa City except for her equally grumpy brother, Devon Winters (Bryton James). Instead of going into the off-screen-only Winters, Inc. office, she spends her time full-time sticking her nose into everyone else’s business—channeling Chloe Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson) from 2023.
To make matters worse, the Young & the Restless soap opera domination of Aristotle Dumas, turning out to be Cane Ashby—who invited too many people to the Dumas trip from hell in the South of France and ended up back in Genoa City—has become Lily’s entire focus whenever her nose isn’t stuck in someone else’s business.
Christel Khalil, who portrays Lily Winters, is plenty pregnant and has been carrying around the biggest bags and wearing the biggest jackets ever to hide her baby bump on screen. When Christel Khalil goes on maternity leave, who will replace Lily’s obsessive focus on Cane? And more importantly, who will pick up the mantle of sticking their nose in everyone else’s business all over Genoa City on Young & the Restless? Fans are taking bets.
Final Thoughts: Will 2026 Bring Any Relief?
So, Y&R fans… Thoughts on the list this year?
Phyllis joining the ranks is genuinely disappointing given her potential and past success. Nikki and Claire continuing to dominate the top spots while running Chancellor Industries without any actual qualifications is exhausting. And Lily somehow getting MORE annoying year over year is an achievement nobody asked for.
Will any of these ladies find their way off this list in 2026? Will Josh Griffith give Phyllis a storyline worthy of her talent? Will Nikki finally learn that Victor doesn’t deserve her blind loyalty? Will Lily get off her high horse and stop being a hypocrite?
