Vikram on Friends… & on The Office… Vikram on The Office is a telemarketer & Vikram on Friends is a kite designer.
Vikram is a unique name. Is Vikram on Friends & Vikram on The Office one & the same?…
How we “Meet” Vikram on Friends
Before “Vikram,” came Mike. Mike is still around, of course. But Vikram “Made an appearance.”
Long story short, Phoebe & Joey agreed to set one another on a double-blind date. Phoebe remembered, & Joey did not.
Joey improvised & the rest is history…
Then Ross Gellar “Intervenes” on Friends, Welcome Vikram…
As Phoebe gets excited about a follow-up date with Mike, Ross complements her dating attitude of going from guy to guy to guy.
Phoebe feels bad. She really likes Mike & it’s almost time for him to pick her up.
Phoebe ends up all sappy during her date & is concerned Mike won’t call her back for another date. Ross stops by to apologize.
If he had stopped there, Vikram would have never come into play — on this show, anyway.
6 Months Made up of Vikram on Friends, By Ross Gellar
Still feeling bad, Ross heads over to Mike’s to apologize & to pitch Phoebe.
At first, he pitches her as “Phoebe As-is,” but then pulls Vikram the kite designer that dated Oprah prior to dating Phoebe for 6 years.
Then finally, Ross heads back over to Phoebe’s to tell her about Vikram. Phoebe is obviously frustrated. Also, Ross is out of the loop that Mike & Phoebe have already set up another date.
Mike comes over, Phoebe goes with the Vikram story, & despite Ross’ meddling… It all works out.
Michael Scott Declares Bankruptcy… Now we Meet Vikram
We first meet Vikram on The Office during Season 4 when Michael Scott is living with his at the time, psychotic girlfriend Jan.
Jan continues to treat Michael as an ATM & he ends up in substantial debt. He tried “declaring bankruptcy, but it was not effective.
Ergo, Michael Scott felt compelled to get a 2nd job. He landed a side gig as an evening telemarketer, & that is where he met Vikram.
Apparently, Vikram left a lasting impression…
The Michael Scott Paper Company
In total Michael Scott fashion, he decides during Season 5 to give 2 weeks’ notice without a plan. Out of an abundance of creativity, he creates The Michael Scott Paper Company.
Pam Beesly is the only Dunder Mifflin employee that ends up taking the leap to the unknown of The Michael Scott Paper Company.
The Dream Team is Formed, Michael Scott Paper Company
After having a rough couple of first days at The Michael Scott Company, Micheal decides to expand his salesforce & decides they need Vikram.
Michael & Pam head over to the telemarketing agency where Michael moonlighted in Season 4 to poach Vikram for The Michael Scott Paper Company Dream Team.
They did get Vikram, & Ryan from his current bowling alley job. Ryan stayed.
Vikram requested to be dropped back off at the telemarketing agency that same day.
Vikram on Friends & Vikram on The Office, The Same Only Different
While we get some specific information about Vikram on Friends from Ross, he never offered Vikram himself or supporting photos.
On The Office, however, it’s clear that Vikram is passionate about telemarketing & did not have much time at all for The Michael Scott Paper Company.
