Y&R Fan Rant: Daniel Romalotti is Useless & Fans are Done

Let’s talk about Daniel Romalotti. Not the Daniel of years past who at least had some charm & a pulse, but the current version, the one who struts around Genoa City being self-righteous & spectacularly unemployed. Daniel Romalotti is the living embodiment of someone who has never once looked in the mirror & connected the dots between his behavior & his circumstances.

He is not the problem. He is never the problem. Just ask him.

Y&R’s Daniel Takes A Tone With Sharon, How Dare He?

Was Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei) seriously just taking a tone with Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) about her daughter, Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes)? Yes, he was. He was seriously asking Sharon if her daughter’s wife, Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks), is supposed to sit around & wait for Mariah. Daniel is literally doing Tessa right now. Does this man even have a soul? Daniel’s position, as always, is that he is not the problem. Tessa will listen to him. Everyone will listen to him. The idea that Daniel might owe anyone in any room a little basic respect apparently has not made it onto his radar.

If Y&R’s Daniel Could Respect Phyllis Ever, That Would Be Great

Here is something that never gets old because Daniel never learns. Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) — his mother, a woman who has burned down half of Genoa City on his behalf at various points — gets zero respect from her son on a consistent basis. Phyllis is currently running Newman Enterprises, pulling off moves that nobody saw coming, & operating at the highest level.

Daniel’s response to having a mother like that is to be dismissive, ungrateful, & perpetually above it all. It is old. It has always been old. Phyllis deserves better.

Unemployed & Unbothered — Daniel’s Next Hit Song on Y&R

Now let’s talk about the elephant in the room. Daniel Romalotti was fired before Heather Stevens (Vail Bloom) was even killed — let that sink in for a moment. He has been unemployed & he has managed to keep himself very busy in other ways. Daniel gets more ass than working for pay, which is an impressive feat for someone who carries himself like he is the most important person in any room he walks into.

A man with no job, no visible income, & an attitude problem the size of Genoa City somehow still has the energy to be sassy to Sharon Newman & dismissive of his own mother — who, oddly enough, have sort of become friends.

The Shadow Room Coming Soon, Another Chance for Daniel

Sienna Bacall (Tamara Braun) & Noah Newman (Lucas Adams) are opening a Shadow Room in Genoa City in a couple of months — exciting news for fans of actual talent. Yet, Tessa & Daniel are apparently being floated as performers for the opening. Tessa performing makes complete sense. Tessa is talented, hardworking, & has earned every opportunity that has come her way.

However, Daniel performing is a whole other conversation. Nothing says “I am relevant” quite like riding someone else’s venue opening while being unemployed & still not the problem.

Daniel Romalotti is not a villain. He is something almost worse — a mediocre man with an inflated sense of self who skates through Genoa City on his last name & his mother’s goodwill while pretending neither exists.
