Y&R Emmy Countdown #5: Mommy & Daddy Got Daniel Romalotti Jobs, Can They Get Him an Emmy?

The 2026 Daytime Emmys are on October 30, & Young & the Restless has three guys up for Supporting Actor. Number three is Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei).

Yes, Daniel Romalotti, The Town Hobo, has been nominated for an Emmy.

Daniel Romalotti Only Works for Family

Mommy & Daddy have been trying to hand Daniel a job for years. His dad, Danny Romalotti (Michael Damian), has offered to take him on tour more times than I can count. His mother, Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford), has tried to bring him into every company she’s ever been involved with, & that’s a lot of companies.

Daniel finally said yes to both. First he worked for Danny at the Shadow Room. Then Phyllis made him co-CEO of Arabesque, right alongside herself & her BFF, Lauren Fenmore (Tracey E. Bregman). No résumé needed when your parents keep the job offers coming. All while he lectured everyone else about their lives in a cardigan while playing guitar about town in Genoa City.

He Did Find Time for Tessa

In between changing cardigans & another guitar strum, Daniel found time to hook up with his guitar teacher, Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks), who happens to be married to Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes). Mariah survived Ian Ward (Ray Wise) & a kidnapping, & Daniel helped hand her a cheating wife on top of it.

Mommy Issues, Too

Here’s the kicker. Daniel has spent ages disrespecting Phyllis, & she still handed him a job. Self-righteous & never once looking in the mirror. That’s Daniel. Lauren, I’m sorry you have to share an office with him.

Will Daniel Win?

Here’s the thing. Michael Graziadei is good at playing a guy you want to shake. Making fans this annoyed takes talent, & that may be exactly what earned him this nomination.

Will he win? He’s up against two castmates, & I’d rather see the trophy go to someone who earned their job. Over on Young & the Restless, fans have been done with Daniel for a while. An Emmy won’t change that.

Fun fact: his dad, Danny, presented an Emmy back in 2023. Now Daniel’s the nominee. Maybe Danny can pull some strings there too.

Tomorrow, #4: Roger Howarth as Matt Clark.

Town Hobo or Emmy winner? It’s not my first day watching Y&R & it isn’t yours either. What’s your take?
