Mental Health on Y&R & Real Life 988 to Get Help

Mental Health on Y&R was the focus this week along with real-life 988 to get help. There are resources available from your phone to get help anytime that you need it.

Who out there has heard of 988?

It seems 988 is as easy to call as 911 but provides immediate over-the-phone (or text) assistance to those facing mental health challenges.

Why is it that we do not know that this amazing resource is out there?

This week’s Weekly #WTF on Y&R

Chelsea Thought She Lost Everything, Nowhere to Turn, No 988

Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) has been spiraling out of control for months. Problems with men, problems with work, problems with children, & losing her BFF. This woman has almost lost it all.

Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) & Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) have attempted to be there for her. Billy was actually the one to find Chelsea on the roof of the Grand Phoenix before it was too late.

Billy brought Chelsea to safety & promised to stay with her to work things through. He even brought Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) in to secure a safe facility for Chelsea to get help at her pace.

Chelsea of course was not immediately on board with going into a facility for help, but Billy promised to stay by her side. Sharon reassured Chelsea that her treatment would take place at her pace.

It seems that the facility where Chelsea is receiving care is not Fairview unlike where she & others in need of mental health help have spent time in Genoa City.

Chelsea may finally find the help she needs. Rarely has there not been something shady intertwined with the treatment of a Genoa City resident at Fairview.

Mental Health on Y&R & Learning, Calling, &/or Donating to 988

Chelsea didn’t know about 988. Or, maybe she did know about it but didn’t feel comfortable using it. Just like almost everyone dealing with mental health challenges in real life…

We all know someone who has had to deal with mental health challenges & maybe one or 2 that haven’t survived them. Some of us have mental health challenges ourselves.

If you notice someone struggling, find a way to offer help. Maybe it’s even finding a way to get 988 saved in their phone so they can reach out for help in private.

Thank you again to Young & the Restless for bringing attention to this sensitive health challenge along with 988 as a means to at least cope before things go too far.

Be safe, Y&R fans, friends, & family…
